The state has long since boasted a strong business climate and proves to be an excellent place for businesses and franchises to set up shop. All companies must register their business with the state through the Georgia Secretary of State. They can do so here. The good news is that Georgia is a non-registration and non-filing state for franchises, meaning there are no franchise registration fees and no state-specific disclosures in the state that are required to be disclosed and submitted in the FDD (franchise disclosure document). However, all franchises in Georgia are still under federal franchise law and the guidelines as set forth by the Federal Trade Commission and within the FTC’s Franchise Rule.  If your franchise offering does not have a federal trademark filing, you are required to put the state on notice with a filing and a $10 application fee.  The state generally takes 2-3 weeks for approval.
